May 4th be With You

It's my neice's birthday soon, and as I have resolved this year to cut down on consumerism and land fill, I am going to make her a dress for her birthday. She will be 6 and already she has quite a style of her own. I am using this pattern ..




This fabric on it's own didn't really inspire me even though I think it's very pretty ..



But when I fiddled around, raided my stash and came up with THIS combination which is similar to the one pictured on the pattern envelope, I just can't wait to get started!


Now all I need to find is some tracing paper ....

    Hey--I found your blog through moogsmum so I thought I'd drop you a line. I love the girly dress pattern and the idea of giving kids something to wear rather than another silly toy or similar gadget. I'm a big book giver, too.

    Is there no end to your talents?!
    If I hadnt just found a couple of dresses for the 2 weddings im going to this spring I might of had to give you a call!!!

    I brought some cherry print shoes today! woohoo!

    Gorgeous combination - I think any 6 year old would be proud to own a dress like that! Great idea for a present, too.
