Summer in a Bag

What a glorious glorious weekend! Sunny, hot and ... lots of pollen ... which meant that I was indoors alot of the time due to my annual bout of hayfever rearing it's watery eyed, runny nosed, sneezy head again, boo hoo!!

So I bought summer into the house, and finished this lovely garden themed bag, from my ever favourite Urban Chicks SWELL fabric by Moda. I lined it with a spotty dotty blue - i'm a sucker for polkadots.

The handle is made from covered cord. Not something I will be doing regularly at it's a bit difficult to iron the creases out after it's done! Well more than a bit difficult - nearly impossible actually (any tips out there??)! But still not as impossible as trying to breathe in the garden this weekend!

Pics aren't brilliant - but that's another (not unrelated) story. Hope it was sunny where you are!

  1. It might have been a b*gger to make, but you've made a brilliant job of it - it's gorgeous. I must attempt a bag at some point. Think I'll start with a tote though *blush*

It was scorching yesterday wasn't it? Same due for today apparently - hope your hayfever isn't too horrid.

  2. I have that same bag pattern and I love it. I've made loads of them. Did you use a loop turner for your cord? I used this method instead of the one in the pattern and it makes the job much easier.

  3. Your bag is GORGEOUS, really lovely. I sympathise with the runny nose etc, I have exactly the same problem. Thought I'd grown out of hayfever but it's back with a vengeance this year, pass the tissues will you :)

Sympathise totally with the old hayfever, mine has subsided as the Ash trees aren't leaking pollen anymore.

  11. Great bag! Is that a hex frame you've used? I just got one from Lisa, and I'm really excited to try it out. I do love those swell fabrics - perfect for this project.
Hope your hayfever is improving. My 4 year old has suffered really badly for the first time this year. It's not fun!
