Blog Fog

Happy New Year everyone! Hope you all had and have good ones. I've been lurking around blogland, keeping abreast with all the goings on, but seem to have lost the will to blog myself for the moment!

This place is coming up for 2 years old. The first year, was "all about me" with lots of crafting, the second, was focused more on dressmaking. It feels like I have been on a wonderful journey, full of learning, friendship, and fun, but now I seem to have arrived at a crossroads.... I could carry on ahead in much the same way, or I could start a new blog which would be entirely about dressmaking and pattern cutting, or I could stop blogging altogether - my least favourite option. I'm just not sure what to do and it doesn't help that this extended cold snap has bought on the worst asthma attacks I've had for years (is there anyone out there who's suffered the same?). So i'm tired, very tired. And I'm going away to think a while longer!

I know all about losing the will. In my case, any changes to my blogging been organic - or you could call it indecisive.

It is nice to have you around. Even though I know nothing about pattern cutting.

Don't go!
My friend is finding her asthma difficult to manage at the moment too - hope you're feeling better soon. It's hard to feel motivated to do anything when you're so tired, so don't rush making any decisions.

I wheeze for the usual allergic reactions but I also been known to have bad asthma when I am stressed. You have indicated that you have been burning the candle at both ends last month so take time to recoup.

You and I are almost the same age in blogs! And I think I've been following you almost the whole time. Happy blogaversary!

P.S. The crossroads is only in your mind--you don't need to make any decisions yet. Just roll along and see how you feel--when you feel better.

I'm sorry your asthma been such a problem - hope it either calms down or the weather warms up and either way you feel better soon. Exhausted is no fun at all.

Maybe a more defined blog break will help? It's hard to keep up the motivation - to be honest mine up and left a few months ago, but I'm still hoping it will come back again!

Yep, my asthma has been dreadful - I had a big attack at uni about 4 weeks ago (so bloody embarrassing, honestly) and I haven't had one for 8 years and that was when I was sat in a knee high field in the hight of summer (wasnt on meds at the time so didn't think it was a problem.

I havent felt quite right with my asthma since. Im always slightly out of kilter and its disconcerting if nothing else. And I am having to stop and sit down a few times a week. I dont want to up my meds I am on singular and 2 x 2 doses of the strongest seretide you can get!

I personally like hearing about your life and beliefs as well as your dressmaking (which just leaves me awed and intimidated ;-) ). But you have to decide what you want to do - as someone else said you dont have to decide just yet!

Hi, hope you are feeling better, I would miss your musings and dressmaking if you left, but perhaps you need to have a break and a rethink about what you want to blog about. I've always enjoyed reading your blog, take care x

Hello Julia. Take a break and focus on you. Dip in and out of others if you feel like it, but don't worry about leaving comments and just see how you feel. I love your blog and would be sad not to chat with you anymore. Where would i go for dressmaking inspiration and good, honest views on the world? We all go on and off blogging, so just look after you lovely lady xx

well that's what Winter is for... time to close in to the home and do a little snuggling and resting and recouperating then you are ready in time for a big spring surge. You may think you have had a break over the festive season but you haven't... festivities bring their own stresses... so now is the time you need to really

s l o w d o w n

and give yourself some time... just cos the internet is fast doesn't mean you have to be too! Rest well and come back when you are ready... should help the asthma too. :-)

Hi Julia,
Sorry to hear about the asthma. Why don't you just press pause for the time being, and let life unfold gently.

happy new year lady :)
noooooo, you cant leave, iv only just found you and your posts inspire me!

its the new year, new everything, including the birth of new paths, wait for them all to unfold, were only at the beginning of the month/year, wait for your mind to get warmed up :) sit back and go gently. everything goes through stages, just got to warm up again, youll wake up one day and just find things you want to write about.

i hope your asthma gets better, hot fluids a plenty, and perhaps some reiki or crystals? don't know how into alternative healing you are? i think it works wonders. (Carnelian is good for asthma, so is malachite (which is also green, the colour of the heart chakra) aaanndd Rhodochrosite) cant hurt?

Sorry to hear you're suffering with asthma - I hope you feel well soon. I know exactly what you mean about losing the will to blog - my own has been languishing for months now, and I have missed the spur it gives me to make new things, so have good intentions for 2010. I hope you won't stop blogging, even if you decide to take a break for a bit. Have loved following your adventures in dressmaking - the gold dress is a triumph!

Wishing you a happy and healthy new year!

Sorry you've been poorly. I wonder if there is a blogger who doesn't feel like that at times - I know that I often do. Good luck with whatever direction you decide to go in. In the meantime, you have the most fabulous legs (who looks like that in wellies?!)...could you really want for much more in life?! x

Hi, Julia! Happy New Year! I am very sorry to hear about your problems with asthma. There are many who experience what is sometimes called "winter asthma", lasting mainly the cold months, due to the cold in the air and how it affects lungs/breathing. I experience a bit of this myself in the winter here--where it is very cold and dry. I do hope you feel better and find some relief soon. It's not unusual you are wondering what next with you blog. I was feeling a little bit the same at Christmas... it was great to have some time to think about what's next and for the New Year. Do take your time and enjoy a break and see what you really want to do with your time and energy. We'll be here in the meantime. :o) Wishing you & yours much love, peace & joy in 2010! ((HUGS))

Sorry to hear you've been suffering..this weather has been something else.

As for bloggin' well I know mine has changed a lot since I started in 2006 and I know the readership is different than when I started. I must admit I've been thinking I'd like to throw the towel in as both keeping a blog and reading blogs is so time consuming, but then on the other hand I've "met" such great people and found new interests that I wouldn't have otherwise. Perhaps it is the January blues...and perhaps you just need a break. I know I'm tempted to leave the bloggin' world for a week or 2 and see if I miss it...perhaps then I'd have some perpective.

Sounds to me like you need to snuggle under a blanket, keep warm and have a little break. Blogging will be be here when you're feeling more like it and we'll all be here too.

I know just how you feel. The gaps between my posts seem to get longer and I never seem to get round to leaving comments either.
Somehow, I keep soming back!

Take care and keep warm.

Hi Julia,
I have avoided any chesty problems by hibernating in my house for nearly a week!! Do not disappear on me will you? I have felt the same a bit and I am wondering whether to change the colour and layout of my blog and inject a bit of a change that way. it still needs to have a blue theme though and blogger does not seem to have the varirty of templates that it had when I started. I find whatever you blog about interesting to read and I would be very upset if it stopped.
Happy New Year and go to the Doctors if you do not start felling better very soon, opps sorry to sound bossy.
xx

It might just be January - it makes me lose the will to do anything. Perhaps you just need to take things a bit easier (and keep warm). I would miss your blog - and love reading it - so I hope you can fit it in to your life. Perhaps a bit of a break is what you need.

Hi Julia,
Yes I too have had terrible asthma. I'm taking my brown(preventative) and blue(ventolin) inhalers frequently and still waking up every couple of hours not able to breathe. It does make you very tired and gives me a headache. No wonder you can't be bothered with your blog. Me either! I wonder if it is the coldweather although obviously I haven't been out in it much (apart from giving my chickens hot porridge each morning) Let's hope we feel better soon...

Hey you ... I feel like I've been standing on these bloggy crossroads for a while now. Different reasons, different problems to you, but I feel your 'pain'. I think we are all cyclical beings, and thus I am hanging on here for the urge to write to overcome me again - hopefully I can shrug off the inhibitions of my every blogging move being 'watched', I think that's a big part of my situation.

Regarding the asthma ... isn't it awful? I am coughing, coughing, coughing. Had to get into town at the weekend for a new inhaler and Boots had run out ... what a panic! Luckily another chemist could fill my prescription.

Keep warm, take care of yourself, and let yourself 'be' ... you'll get where you're supposed to be (in Blogland and elsewhere) when you're good and ready.
