Strawberry Bliss

1 punnet British strawberries
2 tbs caster sugar
1/2 tsp balsamic vinegar
2-3 twists black pepper

Slice strawberries into a bowl. Toss with sugar, vinegar, pepper. Leave for a couple of hours or overnight.

Serve with cream anyway you like it.

And a meringue if you wish.

Apologies for the lack of pictorial evidence ... it was just toooooooo delish to wait.

ps: keeps in fridge for a few days.

  1. I used to do that for lunch - chop the strawberries before work and stick them in a little box with the vinegar etc, and they'd happily steep away all morning. It made me feel terrifically happy when lunching at my desk - what a saddo ;-)

Thanks for the reminder - it's been far too long since I made those. Mmmmm.
