I learned how to cut patterns in order to understand how a corset fits and how it is made. I despaired at the lack of knowledge even on sites selling corsetry components...
So I opened my own shop and put lots of lovely tutorials in there so that people would know what to buy and how to use it.
I have been featured in Sew Magazine several times this year with my corset kits, and beat their record number of competition giveaway entries with one of my kits.
