Solitary Confinement

You know how sometimes a woman can feel quite murderous. You find yourself saying things you wouldn't normally say and whilst in speech the rational mind is thinking "I shouldn't be saying this" or "i mustn't be so vile", but still the voice trills on without care for conscience and ignoring all mental interventions however earnest. Family members are used to these infrequent interruptions to service, and for the most part smile and pass knowing looks to eachother, then find something else to do. Quickly.

Which is when you might find yourself alone in the house. Everyone has run for cover .. to the shed, or garden, or pub, or generally anywhere you aren't.

You feel pleased to be alone (finally!) and yet at the same time, resentful. And you know you are feeling this and why, but you can't help it.

And so it was in the MarmaladeKiss household yesterday.

I had quite alot to deal with on my own ...

It was hard work!

But in the end, I had enough Borscht for the entire Russian Army!

And pickles for us ... and friends, family, friends of family ... etc.,

There is more to pickle, poach and pot:

Apples

Piri Piri

Quince

I haven't dealt with those yet.

I always wonder what men would do if they had to contend with it every month? I usually become irrationally horrible, have a big row with someone then have a good blart!

The funniest story of 'hormonal imbalance' was an ex-girlfriend of OH's mate. They were living together at the time. One day he came home from work to discover she had been decorating... The living room was purple and green - think Wimbledon colours. we're talking DARK!!

Oh. We're on the same cycle then. Mr Marmadaisy is currently hiding putting a shower unit together. You know the really cool thing about beetroo is it turns your wee pink.
What's that book you're reading - in the sidebar?

But the fruits of all your labors will have been worth it, right?...mmm...Happy Day ((HUGS))

Your description of PMT (and the internal thought process that acompanies it) is so perfect!

Forgive my ignorance, but is the soup you made beetroot (borscht?)- if so it is quite amazing. I eat the Duchy Originals version by the gallon when finances will permit (i.e. when I am shopping alone!)...perhaps I should try making my own though. x

At least there's a side benefit to those hormones. You look as if you've enough fantastic food to last until spring. What are you going to do with the quinces?

At least there was something wonderful resulting from your murderous thoughts!

Phew! For a second there I was worried for Mr MK's safety!

What a productive person you've been - you'll be so glad of it in the months to come. When you get 'that day' (for me it's a week before the p thing) just look at your pickles and know you did a good thing! x

It's always a relief to know I'm not the only one. My poor husband woindersd where the real me has gone for a couple of days each month!

I don't think I'm ever that productive as a result though ...
