Saucey by Name, Saucey by Nature

I've been a very bad blogger this week. It's just been one of those times where so many things need doing, and I can hardly believe that this week's episode of Gardners World will be on tv in less than an hour from now ... I swear I was only watching the last episode about 10 minutes ago!

But the glorious summery weather we've had this week has to be taken advantage of to the full, because by next week it could be snowing again. So it's been busy busy busy on the growing front too. I had planted lots of tomato seeds the other week, and they've shot up almost as I watch! So today, the replanting of about 40 seedlings took place. 3 varieties, Harbinger, Saucey, and Marmande (?) .. Do you sometimes pick seeds just for the name?

Tomorrow I hope to be able to tell you all about my pattern pursuits.

All I have is wilting wallflowers, and meanwhile you're halfway down the road to perfect tomato chutney and it's only March.

Loving the tomato names!

My sweetcorn has just popped through but I haven't sown any tomatoes yet - tomorrow's job I hope!

I'm watching my lovely little cucumber seedlings grow on the kitchen windowsill. Also got radishes, spring onions, cabbage, tomoatoes, poppies and sunflowers coming through. I love gardening until it's time to repot that is ;)

Are Marmande those gorgeous big misshapen ones? Ugly as sin but wuth a flavour to die for? Good choice!

I am hopeless with tomatoes. I don't think I've ever grown one I'd want to eat straight from the plant so these days I buy them from the couple over the road who grow them very well! I should add that I am horribly fussy about tomato texture, at least when they're raw. The slightest hint of a tough skin or a soggy inside makes me nauseous ...

My tomatoes are starting to get a little leggy so I moved them to the workshop where they will not be so warm, hopefully to harden off a bit and then we shall do some transplanting... but I only picked one type this year... perhaps we should do a swap because I have one you dont... !

I've been desperate to get in the garden this week but I've been indoors teaching or planning all week. I hope it stays warm a bit longer!

I get very cross with Gardeners World. I liked it when Alan told me what to do. I'm not so keen about these hour long chatting to people in their gardens.

Shut up about your plants, I shout. Tell me what I should be doing with my mulch.

SNOW!!! I bloom'in well hope not! I need to put a fence up in the garden and i do not fancy having to dig holes in near frozen ground. What have you been making then? Your comment on my Rose wall hanging made me laugh out loud by the way. I really needed it on that particular day, I can tell you. Roll on the Easter Hols...pleeease.

ahh, no crap, was that the Gardener's World Special that had the floating moorings in it? You can see the back of me in a red jacket in it, heehee I had no idea they were even filming that day - that's where we live, and you can see our boat in it over and over again. :) (the show is still up on iPlayer until Friday)

I'm still at the stage of trying to persuade my husband to take out our scraggly roses so we can have a wee veggie patch. I've been asking for 2 years now - he's got to break soon, right?

I would have chosen that tomato variety too - looking forward to the crop and any 'Saucey sauce' you might make. Emma x

You a bad blogger? - never! You put me to shame. We've been enjoying the lovely sunshine too and made a start out in the garden - so frustrating that it's arctic out there now we've made a start!
